Visiting Scholars
We are pleased to highlight a selection of visiting researchers at UW–Madison, who collaborated with our team on advanced research in CT imaging. Their work focuses on evaluating emerging technologies, and contributing innovative approaches that support more precise and more effective diagnostic imaging.

- Served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at UW Madison from March to September 2024.
Dr. Kawashima’s primary project while visiting UW was performance characterization of a novel deep silicon-based photon-counting CT scanner under development by GE Healthcare. In addition, he worked on studies related to spatial resolution and noise measurement in CT imaging. After returning to Japan, he has continued this research collaboration.
Currently, he is conducting phantom – and clinical-based evaluations to determine the appropriate clinical applications of advanced CT technologies, such as multi-energy CT and high-resolution CT.

- Served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at UW Madison in April 2024.
Dr. Brun Andersen’s clinical and academic interests include thoracic and oncological radiology, advanced CT including dual energy/spectral CT/photon counting CT, implementation of scanner technology and artificial intelligence into clinical practice with a focus on workflow and clinical value.
Currently, major topics under investigation are the use of photon counting CT in the assessment of pancreatic cancer and lung cancer. Furthermore, he is investigating the large-scale implementation of artificial intelligence for assessment of chest x-rays and its implications.
